Tif Neilan - tif handknits
knitwear designer

United States
Tif and I met early in 2019, the way one meets nowadays, on social media, when she was taking her baby steps in her career as a knitwear designer. I was immediately intrigued by her sense of colour and play with texture and admired her ability to effortlessly unify these two components into a stunning design.
Shortly after, our first collaboration - the Wavelengths Wrap - was on the way. Many others and various test-knits followed.
Even though we have met only once in person in January 2020, when the actual idea to host a retreat together was born, we have talked a lot over the last five years via email, chat, zoom or facetime. We exchanged ideas, shared thoughts and also more personal things, happening in our lives. We both have a passion for horses (and yarn, obviously!).
Tif comes from an interior design background, her first passion. She has a deep love for colour, texture, and fibre. She tends tend to gravitate towards earthy green, rust orange and grey as her “comfort zone” palette, but also really loves to set accents with brighter tones. Her favourite is the herringbone stitch, you can find incorporated in many of her patterns.
Tif lives with her husband, their two daughters and two dogs in Connecticut. Lola is her favourite horse-soulmate.
