Flora Rustica is a design-collaboration between Nature’s Luxury and Judit Gummlich, the author of the fabulous book Embroidery on Knits.

Judit and I designed this exclusive bag for NL's Spring 2024 Gourmet Knitting Retreat.

The bag design is by Nature’s Luxury, and Judit created the lovely floral embroidery embellishments and the sweet little bee.

We are pleased to introduce Flora Rustica now as a kit.

Flora Rustica is knitted with our hearty Foxen Meets Merino with two strands held together. This rustic yarn blend is woollen spun and produced locally in a small mill with a long family tradition, exclusively for Nature's Luxury. It combines 70% of organically raised Coburg Fox Sheep with 30% German Merino wool.

Foxen Meets Merino is the perfect choice for this bag, resulting in a firm, dense fabric, making the delicate embroidery motifs stand out beautifully.

For the embroidery threads, Judit selected NL's On Stage - Long Métrage. This sleek, 1-ply yarn is a blend integrating fine Merino, glossy Silk and soft Baby Camel. It has a light sheen, which gives a lovely contrast to the texture of the bag.

Our sample bag is knitted in the colour Oatmeal end embroidered with the SKYBOUND set.
Alternatively, there are two more embroidery thread sets to choose from: FAIRYBERRY and SPRINGLIKE.

2 skeins Nature's Luxury FOXEN MEETS MERINO, 70% organic Coburg Fox Sheep, 30% German Merino, approx. 275m (310yds)/100g, in a colour of your choice.
1 Nature's Luxury 4-colour embroidery thread set, ON STAGE - LONG MÈTRAGE, hand-dyed, 50% superfine Merino, 30% Silk, 20% Baby Camel, approx. 20m/colour, in a colour of your choice.

Bottom of bag: approx. 9.4 x 3.1in (24 x 8cm), height: approx. 8in (20cm)

The kit includes the yarn, the 4-colour embroidery thread set, the detailed knitting instructions, the embroidery sketches and the water-soluble stabiliser (18 x 18in/45 x 45cm). No detailed how-to embroidery information regarding the stitches used on the bag is explained.

Note: the water-soluble stabiliser reacts immediately to water, even to single drops or wet hands. Please keep away from water until the embroidery is entirely comleted!

If you don’t have Judit’s book “Embroidery on Knits” yet, we highly recommend this wonderful publication. Not only is it a pleasure to leaf through the pages, you also will find everything you need to become an embroidery expert in the future.

The kit includes the pattern, the yarn and one 4-colour embroidery set (no supplies, except the water-soluble stabiliser). You will receive the instructions (PDF-File) in a separate email.

The pattern is available in English and German. Written instructions.
